Hi everyone,

Since this forum has helped me with a lot of issues I had, I think I'll try to ask the following question, since I couldn't find a satisfying answer around the net...

I am getting all of a sudden this error in the errpt:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
LABEL: FIRMWARE_EVENT
IDENTIFIER: A6D1BD62

Date/Time: Tue Jul 8 17:44:17 CEST 2008
Sequence Number: 35438
Machine Id: 0003CF22D700
Node Id: XXXXXXX
Class: H
Type: INFO
Resource Name:
Resource Class: NONE
Resource Type: NONE

VPD:

Description
Firmware Event

Detail Data
Event Information
(Some Hex data)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't get this often, just once on this particular machine. It is connected through HACMP to another node, and both are Model 9131-52A.

A few days ago, we did a failover test with those two, and they were shut down and then started again through HMC (This was done by our locals, not by me, since I a.) have no experience with HMC and b.) they are supposed to know this...).

Both machines have:

- the same Microcode Level SF240_259
- HMC Version is 6.1.3.
- AIX is on 5300-05-00.
- HACMP is 5.4.0.1
- GPFS is there, too with version 2.3.0.17
- Two FC Controllers connected to a DS4700. Both FC Controllers have the same firmware: 1.90X13
- The DS4700 has 06.16.97.00

And now to my questions:

- What does this info msg mean?
- Is this something only IBM can tell me?
- How can I get the info shown in the Hex data?
- Is this also something only IBM can answer?

Maybe this is an absolutely easy question, but I couldn't find an answer, and so, I'd be very thankful if anyone can point me into the right direction.

Thanks in Advance, guys and girls!

I've done some search with FIRMWARE_EVENT and A6D1BD62.
A6D1BD62 seems to refer to memory deallocation, and having a FIRMWARE_EVENT with no data seems to be caused by Capacity on Demand or by unallocated processors or memory.

Is this your case?
