Hi all,

I am trying to make some posters in A4 on abobe. All is well but when I try to print in A4 the image does not fully fit the page, it is scaled. If I dont scale it it is too big. Does anyone know how it is possible to print in A4 using the entire page? I have tried Adobe PS7, MS publisher.

Many Thanks

A4 is 8.268 X 11.693
your printer must be able to print 11 X 17 to print this size.
a printer that prints *.5 X 11 will only print 8 X 10.5 without clipping.

Thanks for the reply, do u mean that the image has to be resized also? But will 11 X 17 print the entire picture on A4? Can these settings be applied in Adobe PS?

Thanks

Your LexmarkZ65 can not handle 11"X17" (approx. A3) paper - it is an A4 printer.
If it prints 'edge to edge' then you can get your full A4 image on it. The spec on the website doesn't appear to give that info. Otherwise you will have to re-size/crop your work to allow for an equal border all round, the actual amount may have to be determined by trial and error.
In page set up, set to A4 with the image 'centred'.
I don't know what the setting options are on this printer, but I don't see there being a problem providing you have sized your job correctly in Photoshop.

it shouldn't be 'too big' if you don't scale it - it should just crop. this is because virtually all printers have margins. as Thom says you will need a larger printer to successfully print an A4 page with no cropping.

guys thank you for all your help. I have tried to centralise in adobe but it still leaves a larger white edge on one side of the paper. All I want to do now is to be able centralise the image using Adobe, or even the Windows XP picture printing wizard

Have you tried reducing your margins in 'Page Setup' before printing?

No I have not tried reducing margins. When I tick the box to centralise the image the options for margins get greyed out. Is there a any standard figures that should be used to centralise?

Many Thanks

Try adjusting the margins in the print setup and save these changes. Then open again and choose 'centre'.
