A1000 Disk Array Battery..

My battery on the A1000 disk array has died and i have a quote of 300 pounds + to replace it..

What are the conciquences on not having the battery installed?

the A1000 gets most of it's write speed by writing to battery backed up RAM, without it it will be slower on writes, and to a minor extent, reads I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
