We have a Sun450 that will be used to implement a LDAP directory service. This of course means that there will be many disk reads and very little writes. We have an A1000 disk controller and Veritas. I'm not up to speed on the A1000 and was wondering if it was necessary to stripe the disks. I thought the A1000 automatically took care of this in a RAID 5 configuration. As you can probably tell, I'm not up to speed on RAID 5/ striping either so I would appreciate any other hints on the best way to configure this system. The OS is Solaris 8 and we have Raid Manager 6.
Thanks!
