Good Morning folks and Happy New Year.
One of the users got married and now she wants her new name on the email address. I know we can change the "isplay Name" but what about actually changing the name and keeping the mailbox the same??
Please advise.
Thanks

Microsoft Exchange is tightly integrated with Active Directory. If you change the display name and accompanying information, i.e., logon and other properties from the user object, the email address will update automatically. Be mindful that that at least two conditions must be evident.
1. The Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in must be installed on the Exchange server.
-OR-
2. If the change is being done from a client, then the Exchange System Manager and Active Directory Users and Computers tools must be installed on the client machine and working properly.
The change is being made on the Server using ADUC.
I'm sure the Snap In is installed so if we change the email name all settings, emails, contacts etc will all be retained??
Thanks
I always make the appropriate changes to the object and check the email addresses tab on the user object upon making the change. Understand that the changes may take a few minutes to populate this tab, so please be patient.
I've always used the AD User Email addresses page as well, but add a NEW address and use the Set as Primary button. This way, the old email address is retained and the user can still receive mail from it, but all new outgoing mail is tagged with the new address in the From: and Reply: info fields.
