A tape access reached a filemark

The backup was completed. Then instead of the usual verify message, the following was displayed:

Storage device "HP 1" reported an error on a request to read data from media.
Error reported:
A tape access reached a filemark.
Job completion status: Failed

What can be done?

You should install the veritas driver for your tape drive.
You should also check your SCSI driver and the firmware for the tape drive. Update if possible.
Look at your EVENT VIEWER for Event ID's 7,9 or 11. If you have, you can look for solutions at
