A sudden bevy of problems

I've been using Corel 8 for years without a problem. Recently, however, I began experiencing strange problems with the property bar. It wouldn't let me use or modify transparencies, and circles began as acrs by default. Attempts to change these setting via the toopbar would fail. In desperation, I did a full un- and re-installation of the program, since I didn't get any help on the Corel forums (and didn't know about Tek tips!).

Now, I've got all the original problems, plus others, such as no palettes, and an error whenever I try to open one (Error Opening H:\corel\graphics\custom\coreldrw.cpl).

Obviously, something's not quite right.

What happened in the first place to make my install go wrong? How can I avoid it happening again?

How do I fix it?

well, you didn't mention what OS you're using. It sounds like a corrupt workspace. Have you tried resetting the workspace?

Thanks for the response!

I'm using windows 2000.

I haven't tried resetting the workspace. I'll do that and post any results here.
