That's excellent.

Ouch.

He always writes excellent reviews.

For those who know who I'm talking about, he's also the son of Claire Rayner; famed agony aunt (famed for talking to phone-ins on TV and saying - "Will you go and make yourself a lovely cup of tea? Will you do that for me lovey?).

Telling it like it is; pulling no punches.

Wonderfully funny.

It almost makes one want to go there, just to find out if the food and atmosphere are really that bad.

Disco Retro" nights draw big in a lot of places, so I figure there's gotta be a market for people with no taste.

If you're talking about art it's called kitsch (think pink lawn flamingos). I don't know what it's called when people can't taste food. ;-)

Maybe scathing is too nice a word for this review. Can anyone come up with a more accurate word?

I think "scathing" is perfect. A close alternative might be "virulent". How about "scathingly virulent"?

Sounds like a death knell....

Dismissive
Renouncing?
Denouncing?

I suppose that you might class it as a "restauRANT review".

The worst possible adjective for that review, in the eyes of the restrant's owners, is most likely accurate

Hilarious! That's the word I'd give it, at least if the reader is not associated with the restaurant. [smile]

Thanks for the laughs!

And I have to give a star to DansDadUK, as I think that's the perfect term for this review! [lol]

Reminds me of a scene from Mel Brook's "History of the World Part I".

The cavemen are painting bison & hunters on the cave walls and, because we are talking about inventing Art, we must now have the art critic and he's passing a bit more than judgement on the paintings.
