This relates to Accpac 5.0A.
I am trying to find which table the Description field is held in when you click the Document button on the A/R Customer Activity form.

ARCMM = AR Customer Comments. It may be used by Contact Master, but I doubt it.
To get back to the original question, are you looking for the description field or the description column?
When you click the Document button you get the AR Invoice Entry screen, on this screen you have the header description field and the detail description column.
The header description field is to the right of the entry number and this can be found in ARIBH.INVCDESC
The detail description can be found in ARIBD.TEXTDESC

Either our accpac is very odd or very old. I'll ask our accpac bloke.
On our system it isn't invcdesc, textdesc or arcmm!

Thanks for your help.

I'm looking at the AR 5.0 tables, those are the fields if I understand you correctly.

Except for ARCMM, that is the customer comment table and the fields from this table do not appear on the customer activity screen.

According to our accpac bloke

These are a fixed list based on the underlying value in the database.

They are non-changeable.

By which I assume he means fixed strings based on some id column selected by a drop down

Sorry, I misread your first post, ARCMM is Customer comments. The document description is in AROBL.DESCINVC.

Maybe if you tell us what you are trying to achieve then we can point you in the right direction.

I thought I had explained fairly well and included a picture. However my accpacc seems to be arranged in a radically different way to yours so, although I appreciate your help, we seem to have essentially different programmes.

What I am trying to do sort out some problems with a customer statement where the accounts department haven't put a distribution code in. I was seeing if I could work out what sort of invoice it was by other clues, but I don't think I can.

I don't understand why Accpac appears to use completely different fields/columns from one version to another, if that is what is happening

There is only one release of Accpac, so all of them are the same (except for version differences), so your AR 5.0 is identical to my AR 5.0
Use the Document button on the AR Activity, Transactions screen to get to the original invoice that was entered, from there you should be able to figure things out.

As I said I made a mistake. It is the Open button that shows the Document Information form. That's the one I'm puzzled over.

And it isn't arcmm, nor is it AROBL.DESCINVC which is nearly all blank. Nor is it ARIBH or ARIBD

Click the Document button and look at that screen instead.

The Document button goes to ARIBH. The Open button goes to AROBL, therefore it's AROBL.DESCINVC.
