A quick question on Qlobal Catalog

I have this isssue and was wonderering if this could be the problem.

I have two DC's server 1 and server 2, server 1 has exchange and server 2 use to have exchange, we moved it to server 1. Server 2 has the global catalog but server 1 does not. Is this a problem, could this cause outlook clients to disconnect from exchange and require a restart of server 2.
