First of all I was wondering if someone could give me feedback on the new main page of my website. I was wondering if the sound effects at the end make the light-effect seem choppy. It looked alright to me until I added the sounds.

Also, at the end I have a "get URL" command in there. Now, and I have no idea if this is even possible, but is there any kind of effect that would make the new URL come in nicer?..rather than just going to the next page like a regular website?....do you follow me?..like a fade in effect or something?

Adam

Adam,
Sound seems synched to me... And at least adds some originality to an effect that, I for one, only see as an exercise in Flash... A bit overused, IMHO!

As for the transition to the main page, it ain't that bad either... I've seen much worst.
You could probably improve on it in many ways... And I'm sure, with the talent you have demonstrated, you'll get there in no time!

This doesn't seem to work with NS! Did you know?
Or for that matter... Did you care?
Sorry Pat!
NS et MAC sont du pareil au même pour moi!

B-)

Adam,
I checked your url, nothing on the page.....

Old, pfff, tu as de la chance que I owe you a big one for tonight, sinon je te dirais ce que je pense de ton sectarisme pffff

:p

Que fais je encore ici? j'ai dit que j'allais au lit! allez hop! au lit! bon sang!

No wonder you didn't see anything Pat!
Must be a combination of Mac & Bordeau! If not of NS also!

I might soon have a PC to sell... If you're interested!
I want one of those G4s. Now there's a machine!
Wouldn't touch it with a 10 feet French!

LOL

hhhmmmm....thanks both for your time, and yes it was a good exercise for me. I wondered what that "alpha" thing did. Any idea why it wouldn't work with NS?

Only reason I can think of why it woudn't work with NS is that your using Dreamweaver. I know nothing of Dreamweaver or it's method of embedding the Flash player.
I've allways used the <embed> tag for NS, and it's not present in your html code.

;-)

<embed> tag is essential for Netscape use. Also when I was running tests on pinzeppelin.com it appeared as a one-inch square in Netscape, turned out there was a problem with using Flash & tables (?? don't ask me why), using frames instead it worked like a dream. But like old said, if you miss out the <embed> tag you'll just create a wonderful Invisiblizer Plug-in for Netscape users.

dave

ps: I use Dreamweaver4 sometimes and have had no issues with netscape except for that mentioned above. Best advice: stick to Notepad for HTML creation! davdesign@pinkzeppelin.com

Dave, Adam seems to be using Dreamweaver to publish!
Don't think he's got into publishing from Flash directly yet!

BTW, you made a promise here: thread250-65120

Anthropos,

I like the color transitions very nicely done. Smooth as silk. Yes the music seemed to sync.

The light behind the letters effect is cool Ive been trying to accomplish similar. did u want the light cast to be more of an alpha???

old

oh yeahhh, forgot about that. If you read my post on another thread you'll know why I haven't used 'all' of my spare time on the forum tonight. Will have a go just now so if I don't post for a while you know where I am.....

BTW, I think today was International Poetry Day, or something like that!

First of all I must make you all aware of my limited capablilities and knowledge. I've only heard of Dreamweaver but actually have no idea what it is. I don't even know what you mean about publishing directly from flash, unless you mean setting up the publishing settings and making an HTML document. Then yes I do know what you mean--actually that was the very first question I asked here, on February 13th I think--under the pseudonym &quot;rumplestiltskin&quot;, I needed to turn a valentine's card into an .exe file. Sadly enough I know only basic basic HTML and I use yahoo's pagebuilder to create most of my pages. I stumbled across Flash a month and a bit ago and I was so blown away by it that I knew I HAD TO get to know how it works. So, you might see me asking some pretty dumb questions here. I appreaciate that you all take the time to give the help that a new user needs.

Thanks to you too, nyne69ball, I used a shape tween to go from one color to the next. It was my first attempt at a shape tween and I was happy with its result. What did you mean by &quot;did u want the light cast to be more of an alpha???&quot; Do you mean more transparent? please excuse my ignorance. I just went step by step through a tutorial at flashkit for that effect. I did it all last night. Here's the link to the tutorial, if you haven't seen it and are interested.

Adam

Sorry Adam, my error! Read Dreamweaver instead of Dreamwater which is your host when I had a look at your html source code.
Problem with NS remains though... Because you're not using an <embed> tag.
Your published html (from Flash) should hold that tag, but you say you're using yahoo's pagebuilder, which might be the problem.

Try copying and uploading this template html:

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>FULLSCREEN FLASH</TITLE>

</HEAD>
<BODY bgcolor=&quot;#000000&quot; MARGINHEIGHT=&quot;0&quot; MARGINWIDTH=&quot;0&quot; TOPMARGIN=&quot;0&quot; LEFTMARGIN=&quot;0&quot; scroll=&quot;no&quot;>
<Center>
<BR><BR>

<OBJECT classid=&quot;clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000&quot; codebase=&quot; ID=index WIDTH=100% HEIGHT=100%>
<PARAM NAME=movie VALUE=&quot;<PARAM NAME=quality VALUE=high>
<PARAM NAME=scale VALUE=exactfit>
<PARAM NAME=bgcolor VALUE=#000000>

<EMBED src=&quot; quality=high scale=exactfit bgcolor=#000000 WIDTH=100% HEIGHT=100% TYPE=&quot;application/x-shockwave-flash&quot; PLUGINSPAGE=&quot;</OBJECT>
</center>
</BODY>
</HTML>

Look at this, this is the html above, on my server, but it should work on both browsers:

ah ha! Actually, for this flash page I didn't use yahoo's tool and I just let flash convert the HTML for me. Weird that it would leave ot the embed tag. Any possible reasons other than gremlins? I can just go in and change my HTML to what you have posted right?..and that should allow NS travellers to stop by?--with minor changes to the URLs that is. Thanks once again for saving the day, Old.

Wait'll you see my next project--if I can get it going that is...simply for fun and learning.

Adam

You got the picture!
Weird that the embed tag been left out!

Thanks for your offer....your pc for sale... As I've told you, I've got two pcs, rotting in my basement. So, I would not want your pc, even if you paid me to take it away! Grrrrrrrr!
It's 1h30 am and I'm too tired. Not the slightest sliver of humour left in me.
Et puisque c'est comme ca, je vais me coucher et je vais bouder! Non mais! %-(

Thanks nyne69ball, also, is there a way to respond to a specific post within a thread?
