Hi guys,

I did the upgrade of my Compaq Pentium PC with a 4GB hard drive (with 4 partitions) from Window 95 OSR2 (FAT) to Windows 2000 (NTFS) yesterday. I did pick the option of Upgrade to Windows 2000 (to replcae the current OS). However, I find out this morning I run into TWO problems after performing the upgrade.

#1: When I boot up my computer, instead of go straight into the Win 2k windows, it gives me a dual boot screen menu with 2 choices (MS Win2k Professional and MS Windows). That should not happen ...

#2: Most of the software applications are not working any more. (most of them are installed onto the D drive partition or e drive partition with Windows 98 before the upgrade). Even though I can open them, but gives me a bunch of dll / registry pop up errors.

So I would know to know if I want to prevent the same thing happen when I do the Win95 /98 upgrade to Win 2k Pro for another machine with similar configuration, what do I have to do to achieve the following :

REQUIREMENTS:

(1) Get rid of Win 95 / 98 and does not gives me the dual boot screen and let me go right into win2k after the upgrade.

(2) Ensure all the software apps will be working in Win 2k after the upgrade, so I don't have to re-install all the apps all over again.

Any suggestion or ideas to solve this problem will be highly appreciated in advance.

Please advise ASAP at leungv@city.port-coquitlam.bc.ca.
