Hello,
I just signed in...
i would like to know if ANSI_SQL is the regular and common SQL (please do not laugh...)

Thank-you,
LIOR

Actually your question is a very good one. Most brands of SQL have numerous extensions that go beyond the ANSI standards. The purpose of this forum is to provide answers in fairly generic SQL, to provide for portability across platforms. In practice, however, we acknowledge that this isn't always possible. Frequently, the non-ANSI solution is by far the best way of doing something. That's why a lot of responses include a disclaimer like "it depends on which dbms you're using".

Hello Karluk,
Thank-you for you sincere answer... I appreciate it much!!
I am going to use an Oracle dB, which I assume I can use the ANSI_SQL statements... right?
If not what is the most suitable SQL version for these dB's??

Thank-you,
LIOR

Yes, ANSI sql should generally work with Oracle. However, you should probably post your questions to forum186, which is an Oracle specific forum. That way you can be sure of getting Oracle compatible answers.
