A problem I have incurred, our two computers while being networked (dont work well) have the same lotus database with the same name and the same fields in each record, now two operators are logging in different information ,and we want to reconsile the two computers to have identical records,we dont know how to do this, some "experts" offered davice which failed to work i.e. creating a new data base copying each of the two databases to the new one (thank God we backed up everything)as one will always overwrite the other, its a hair pulling operation. Lotus IBM are as useful as a lighthouse in a bog.
Thanks anybody for assistance
Bill

There are two possibilities:

1. Import from one dbf to the other with the option add/update existing records. There would have to be unique field in the dbf to match existing records on which you specify in the import dialog.

2. Create a new apr by opening one of the dbfs then join the other one on one or more common fields so that existing records will match 1 for 1. Now if you create a worsheet based on dbf1 and add the join field(s) from dbf2 you can find for blanks which will return the records in dbf1 that don't exist in dbf2. A similar worksheet based on dbf2 can be used to find the records that don't exist in dbf1.

The found set can be exported to a temp dbf then imported into the other dbf with the option to add as new records.
