I have had this problem intermittantly forever when trying to upgrade IE 4 to IE 5 or 5.5 I found a post on this (wonderful) site that gave a regedit fix that worked like a charm. However, I misplaced it, and the keyword search doesn't seem to be functioning (or maybe it's just me).

Can anyone help?

Thanks
Leslie

Don't know if this is it, but check out the link. MS suggests some fixes, and there is a registry fix if you use Win NT/2000.

Hope that helps!! Mudskipper

I am not certain which registry entry you were looking for but if you delete the wininit.ini file you should be able to start the install again.

I hope this helps. joegz

Thanks Mudskipper.
That did the trick. I was missing the reference to HKLM:system\currentcontrolset\control\session manager. It's now printed and in a "safe" place.
