How interesting to watch as thing between Nortel and Avaya unfold in the market place. Phasing out the old reliable Nortel/Norstar/Meridian product lines all falls under the old "Planned Obsolesanance" model that business use.

However good news is on the horizon. I predict one of these companies will start to push forward as the leader like Nortel did at one time.

I see that the shinning star telcom company will win the confidence of both customers and us telcom folks. Word will spread like wildfire as to who is the best of best and the most reliable and innovative system on the market and once again we will get a work horse of a product line at our disposal.

It always happens in business, someone sprints ahead and out shines all the rest... for a while. If we are all lucky we may have another good 20 or 30 years of a single reliable product line at our disposal another Nortel but with a different brand name but backed by good solid design and dedicated people.

What do you think. IS there already a Front Runner out there winning our hearts?

I agree that avaya is here to stay and with that said. There is probably going to be a scramble between mitel and cisco as the two that I think have the largest present customer base and a starting point to shove off from. I always thought mitel was quiet and only interested in medium/large business accounts (more than 50 users) Cisco, while being a relatively newcomer to the telecom world has been pushing hard in the small/medium business market but I do not think that the customers will be satisfied with their service agreement policy. and annual user licensing requirements. beyond that the Iwatsu also is pushing hard in the small/medium market. I like the product but have some minor grumps with the programming setup.

all that being said I think that the IPitomy product is going to show big time. low initial cost (I haven't seen the pricing for this q yet) works with any IP phone and the tech support helps with the interface of non-IPitomy phones.
