Hi,

If you want to see a lot of COBOL sources or just want to test your COBOL 85 compiler if it is compatible with the ANSI 85 standard or if you want to test a conversion tool or something like that, it can help you to download this:

If you don't know how to split the final file on a windows or dos platform, you can send a mail to cobolcrox at hotmail.

Regards,

Crox

Nice Crox. I am playing with tiny- and opencobol on my *nix boxes. I don't know how to split, and you know my e-mail :)

You should have received the COBOL program now!

What are the results with tiny- and opencobol?

Working on it. Haven't got too much spare time (work family..). I want to combine my effort with the installation of adabasD. This database (not really open source, but the evaluation version is free) also contains a mature cobol-pre-processor.

I want to see if I can get it working together.

But as I said, time is scarce (goede vertaling van schaars?). I will keep this forum informed about my progress and failures.

But Crox, you've got time :-( I'm afraid
Come on, leave microsoft, install linux or BSD and install an open source cobol compiler!

Hi,

I am very busy with converting PL/I to COBOL. I 'feed' a company with rules, help them with questions, etc. They have a smart tool to convert sources from anything to anything. We must fill it with rules. It is a proof-of-concept on 250 programs. We want to do the follow-up with 21M lines of code. On this moment there is a lot of work but not so much earnings. The earning starts if we can do the rest. The conversion is going very well. The 'new' COBOL looks like normal company source. Almost no extra variables and many conversion-rules are introduced to create typical and efficient COBOL solutions. A lot of work so no time for Linux at the moment. Perhaps AdabasD is also something that Bob likes.

Regards,

Crox

I don't think so but we can send him an email of course.

Do that.

b.t.w. & off-topic:
I've managed to install adabas-d on my Slackware machine yesterdayevening, so I am making progress.

Sounds good. What is the idea to develop in the future with it?

None. I'm just playing/experimenting. Still got some old Cobol/2-db/2 programs from the 'good-old' OS/2 time. See how much effort it is to get them up&running on my home computer.
