HI!

My Excel's (from the Office 2000 suite/PC)close button is constantly greyed out (The little "x" on the top right of the screen. The only way to exit from the app is to close it from the file menu. I've searched through all the settings and tried to find something about this on the Microsoft site but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know how to make this little "x" button come to life? Any help would be most appreciated!

Hmmm...

If you don't find any other solution, run Detect and Repair from the Excel Help menu.

If that doesn't work, close Excel, hit Start-Run and type regedit and hit enter. Browse to:

hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\office\9.0\Excel

Right-click the Excel file and rename to OldExcel.

Launch Excel.
