I was just reading this article ( about Jim Furyk's disqualification from The Barlays and you got to love this line:
"I'm kicking myself," Furyk told the AP. "I have a way of climbing into situations that are all my fault."

Is the use of the word climbing a colloqualism. The sentence sounds perfectly normal to me if I substitute getting for climbing.

Is there something else unusual about the sentence that I am not getting? (or is that climbing?)

Actually 'climbing' into the situation implies that it would be difficult or awkward to exit, more so than the connotation of 'getting' into the situation would. A creative extension/expansion of the language, IMHO.

kwb,
I think the gist is that if Furyk is doing the climbing into (or getting into or whatever), then of course it's his fault.

So this is a Yogi Berra kinda thing then?
