A good tip for all you Pascal fans out there : Ever heard of SWAG?

Hi Pascal fans!

For many years now, I have been picking up countless examples and ideas from something called SWAG.

Some (most?) of you may know it. If not -visit this page:

It's dated back to '97 but trust me om this one: lots and lots of good help there...

Just download the reader and "ALLSWAGS" you won't regret it!

Grab your keyboard and start typing §;O) -and don't blame me if you loose a few nights of good sleep, okay... ?!

I know it, I have it somewhere, but I've never used it. The reasons:
- Special file format and dedicated viewer prohibit on-the-fly testing; you have to extract the code, switch to IDE, load the code, compile it, debug the code, compile it again and finally run it.
- The archiving system doesn't support the notion of multiple files belonging together; either the units and main program are all put in one file, or you have to search through the index to find all the files belonging together.
- Most code snippets are too advanced for beginning programmers, but ...
- ... if you're searching for some particular advanced routine, you don't find it.
- The archive is too big, you lose overview: you can read the first 20 topics, but when you reach number 50 or so, you start skipping or you even give up.
- The archive contains lots of routines that serve the same purpose, some are good, some are slow, some are buggy.
- The code snippets lack a fixed format. The topic line should only contain keywords and the snippet itself should contain number, author and information.

Some of these arguments may not apply in your opinion, but if I could choose between SWAG and this forum, my choice is easily made.

Just a note: not all of us "Pascal Fans" use M$ machines.

I am currently running FreePascal on Linux, so proprietary DOS programs aren't of much use to me.

Pascal is also quite popular on the MAC, as this site would indicate:
