Hi, just wondered if any of you could recommend a good PM book, having just got 7.0, I'm really enjoying finding out what it can do and getting tips from here, but feel that I should be looking into it in more depth. E.g. I had no idea that you should not copy/paste word text into PM, but save it as an .rtf and place it.

Appreciated :)

Mericat,

The best book I have fond is the user manual that came with the software. Also, some of the best knowledge which you will not find in any book as far as I have seen is to check out the forums. Adobeforums.com has an excellent and active forum and an in-depth FAQ with a lot of the pitfalls outlined. This forum is also an excellent resource. And the upside is: they cost a lot less than any book!

The problem with most books is that they will avoid being controversial. You will not read a recommendation to not use JPGs in a book, more than likley. Yet using JPGs is bad workflow. Most books will miss such topics as not having 500 fonts installed in your machine while using PM. All of this and more is covered in the forums by people that have learned the hard way, and would love to impart their experiences. And these are always tempered by the opinions of others.

That is just my opinion! When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Thanks for this. Nice to know we're not going to have to spend any more at the moment. Please excuse my relative stupidity ;)

Not stupidity... inexperience maybe :~0

The only stupid questions are the ones not asked! When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Do you know, I've always thought that! I was always the kid at school waving my hand in the air saying, yeah, but what exactly do you mean? and feeling silly.

It's my sig actually - thought it was a fairly safe bet it would apply to most of my posts. Please excuse my relative stupidity ;)

Yep, maybe I should have put ignorance, which would probably be more accurate. Please excuse my relative stupidity ;)

for scripting I found two, one on the adobe site and one by the guy who wrote the scripting language. They index differently so I mix and match. I think the one was via Pagemker or Pagemkr but it was not hard to find via google or alltheweb.
