A friend of mine had put an old montior on his puter and it smelt like something melting so he unpluged it and put the other monitor on and now it boots up but it says 0510-90 ide device #0 error. It does not go to windows. If you know or have any sites on how to fix this, please let me know. It is a old puter Hewlett packard Vectra VE os is win 95.

Thanks for your time.

Robert

That's a SMART error from the hd saying it's broke. The only alternative is to get another hd.
Sorry to bring bad news.

Thanks Jeremy

Wow, that was quick.
Thanks for letting me know this. So it sounds like the harddrive got fried? Bummer.

Thanks for your time in responding back. I will break the news to him, gulp.

Don't know if the monitor and hd going at the same time had any conjunction. The VE6 is an older model, could have just been time that killed the drive. The VE6 is a good model though, I'd just replace the drive and keep the pc.
