I need to figure out how to see the trends in my data.
I'd like to be abled to find out how many people have improved in my overall data and then I would like to know which individual has improved. If you could please help me or send me to someone who can i would greatly appreciate it.

you first have to establish what you mean by "improved": as measured against a person's previous score(s) or against the group.
is the expectation that each score will be higher than the previous one [then simply do a series of comparisons by subtracting the older from the newer], or that overall a person has done well [take the min and max values; subtract them from the avg value].
while i'm not a statistician, i do know a trend involves an outside benchmark against which your values can be measured. (for example, after a review class you notice scores start going up. so the trend will have to be two dimensional: scores versus time )[i may be going in more deeply than your question needs...]
