okay

first up, on linux, how would i block port 53?

i am helping out a friend with an isp

how would i see what users are connected?

he also has a huge bash script

like 50 pages long

this is a cgi app or something

he puts in the addres of his local machine in a browser and can monitor users and see status and search for users

at the moment he can only search by name, he wants me to add stuff so he can search by phone number and address

any ideas?

You'd block port 53 with ipchains or iptables.

"connected users"- logged in users is shown with "w", but network connections with "netstat -an more" may be what you mean.

As to the script, well, you need to learn scripting- or hire someone else.
