Windows SBS 2003 reports the following system error "a duplicate name exists on the network" after reboot. I've checked the client computers list in Server management, and none of the computers have identical names.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jan Magne

I had this happen once and it turned out a pc had a wireless and reg nic installed, both were working.

I've also run into a similar error, but it turned out to be a virtual machine running on one of the workstations. Also. one of the network inventory packages might help, such as Spiceworks etc.

i had this happen a few days ago.

Solution for me:

Delete computer name from AD, restart server and client make client a WORKGROUP (*required restart) then added it back to the domain.

if that doesn't work make it a different computer name.

let me know!
