when i try and connect to the w2k exchange server in th e job selections. i have done everything else from editing the account in adsi. i have checked that the permissions are OK, perhaps i am still missing out on something.

i can set the default attach info but when i go to select the mailboxes i am asked that perennial Q attach to drive. if i use the same account as the Backup Exec services account it still bombs out. if i use the administrator account then I get ........a communication error has occurred.

in Be i am also getting "Error- AlertServer failed to successfully logon to MAPI with profile and password supplied". I know this is a BIG clue that this is all a perms issue but where or where can I can find where the perms are not set properly.

In active dir the BE account has admin and domain admin rights. there is a mailbox on the BE server. the BE mail account is not hidden. i can send and receive from the mail box

HELP!!!!

Your problem sounds like one I have found a ton of in newsgroups, and recently had myself...however it might not be...

When I try to connect to the Exchange 5.5 server through "Mailbox" agent, I would receive: Communications Error"...when you open up the Exchange 5.5 Admin console, and you try to connect to your Exchange 5.5 box, or ONE of multiple boxes, do you get:

"DS_E_COMMUNICATIONS_PROBLEM" ?

If so, then most likely either your Exchange 5.5 box or your BExec box are running NT 4.0 with, at one point, 56 bit sp6 installed, later any one of multiple MS security patches/hot fixes changes SCHANNEL.DLL and SECURITY.DLL and now you cannot negotiate a 128 bit request. There is a file you have to contact MS to get, but it's free - go figure, refer to Q322051

let me know if this helps :)
