I am attending Gibbs College for 2 years of my life while work on weekends. I am just wondering if it is worth the time to get my A+ certification and an assocated degree in Applied Science?
I personally believe the A+ certification is very much worth it. I would not have gotten my current job without it I do not believe. and on top do that you will have a college degree for which many employers are starting (and many have always looked for) to seek. The A+ shows you know computer hardware and the degree shows not only the willingness to commit but the desire to learn and grow. It also shows they are hiring an intelligent person (in most cases). I would also suggest some Microsoft Certifications. A few MCP certificates in Win98 and Windows 2000 will really help. Going for a full MCSE while in college is VERY difficult to do (I know from my current experience).
Hope this helps you make a decision. James Collins

A+, MCP
I would highly recommend getting the A+. Its an easy test, and it seems to be valued a good deal in the industry. I was actually brought into my current company over others because I had just gotten mine before I applied. They considered me much more after they knew I was certified in what they wanted to achieve with the position that was open.
Just my two cents, but its worth your time. Like I said, its easy and reading the books was interesting because PnP replaced a lot of the material that was covered, stuff that helped me out later when I didn't think it ever would.
