....but what is the fugliest system phone you ever saw, anyone remember those definity consoles that looked like some 1970's startrek monstrosity? Hideous

Ah, the old 301 consoles. Very reliable hardware. But yes, they were and still are ugly. Another very ugly product is a specific Avaya MCC cabinet that was made for a very short time. It wasn't the standard white cabinet. They made it match the gray/dark gray 650 cabinet for a very short time before discontinuing the MCC cabinet.
The Nortel 3904 sets (white or black) are ugly as sin.

How about a 30 button call director WITH button and Buzzer

1a2 to ip I seen it all

I'd never seen executone before, and I wish I still hadn't, they're real mingers.

All the Avaya 24xx, 54xx & 56xx sets are ugly. In fact I think most of the Lucent/Avaya sets made "since" the classic Merlin, MLX, and MLS sets are UGLY. They really have not had good designs since the Dreyfuss designs and functionality sucks.

mitel supersets especially thge old ones....

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Mitel 400 series sets when they first came out in white. With the red and blue buttons, all that was missing were eyes, wheels and pull cord and it looked like a perfect Fisher-Price phone.

Cascade 30 by Teletone or an old Phillips step PBX (circa 1968). T

Today, most sets look more like POS Debit machines anyway.

I agree that the Executone "wave" sets were ugly, however the M series were quite nice looking. The Equity 2 phones were also ugly. Equity 1 phones weren't super attractive - but were from the day when the phone would drop off a desk and make a dent in the concrete floor - and still function. You have to respect that!

Executone Gateway phones were the worst - I sold them for a while - we used to refer to the phones and the system as the "Getaway

I would not mind a Call Director for my 1A2 system at home LOL

I have several 18 & 30 button Call Director®s in pristine condition for my 1A2 KTS equipped with the 400G KTUs (blue handle).

I have a brown ITT 6 button rotary-dial phone. The handset cord is hard-wired. Nothing to connect it to, but it is an interesting reminder of where telecommunications used to be. Brown isn't really my favorite color so I would call it "ugly"

I also salvaged 2 gray Definity 6416D+ phones from a recycling bin. The displays won't stay propped up and I don't have access to a Definity switch, but they are nice to look at once in a while.

1+ on the Definity 6400 series gray phones. Those are nice looking telephones!

Hey Jeff,

When I first started with the company (1990), the old switch site had a 1A2 and my phone was the like the one you have. I suppose it met my needs at the time, but the lack of speed dial, redial & caller ID kinda made the system a bit old fashioned (albeit one that could probably survive being drop-kicked off the roof of the building and still function reasonably well). [bigsmile]

I have three of them (6408D+) in my house and they are nice looking and reliable
