There has to be a better meta tag generator out there (or at least a better way to get people to see your site). All the ones I have come across ask you to input keywords for your meta tag, but that's not what I had in mind for a meta tag generator. What I had in mind for a meta tag generator would be something that looks at the document and outputs the keywords from that. I tried to do this myself with JavaScript (<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> or under Programmers -> Languages -> JavaScript, it should still be there), but I ran into problems in trying to do so. Does anyone have any suggestions?
REH
hawkdogg@crosswinds.net
<a href= by Linux
Learn Linux and Leave out the Windows :)

I am not sure how this could work. How could the program differentiate between the real keywords and just extraneous text? I can see how you could filter our words like "and, the, of" and such, But you would still have an unruly mess when finished, with words relating nothing at all to your site. I still believe the best way to do it, is to do it by hand, listing exactly what your site is about, using the keywords closest to its description.
Another Idea, is to use a Thesaurus to look up your descriptions, you could then use all the synonyms, which improve your odds of being found.
Try submitting a meta-tag free page to a search engine....the search engines (good ones) already do just that....they look through the page & doc a few keywords that the program thinks would apply.....what's the purpose in having a program to generate meta tags that are often of no better quality than what the search engine can come up with w/o any tags?
-Robherc
robherc@netzero.net
SearchMaster Interface...11-in-1
Wanting to learn Assembler; please e-mail me any tutorials or links for it that are useful to you :)
