OK, since my last post was getting even sillier.... how about a few of those phrases like in the title?

I'll get you started (as usual)

A few peas short of a pod
A few buttons missing on his remote control
A taco shy of a combo plate
A couple beers short of a 6-pack
A couple french fries short of a happy meal
A brick short of a load
An IQ point short of consciousness

Any others you guys know?

A few songs short of a playlist.

[small]Sometimes you gotta leave your zone of safety. You have to manufacture Inspirado. You gotta get out of the apartment. You've got to run with the wolves. You've got to dive into the ocean and fight with the sharks. Or just treat yourself to a delicious hot fudge sundae........ with nuts. - Jack Black[/small]

One card short of a deck

Oh boy, either I am here for a really long time, or have really good memory, or both.

The most common ones are probably:

A few sandwiches short of a picnic.
A few cards short of a deck.

I can't take credit for these...just found them on a site.

A few sandwiches short of a picnic.
A few screws short of a hardware store.
A few keys short of a keyboard.
One twist short of a slinky.
A few threads short of a sweater.
A few clowns short of a circus.
A few fruit loops shy of a full bowl.
A few watts shy of a light bulb.
A few fuses short of a full circuit.
A tire short of an eighteen wheeler.
A few pecans short of a fruitcake.
A few toppings short of a deluxe pizza.
A few colors short of a rainbow.
A few noodles short of chow mein.
A few bristles short of a broom.
A few sheep short of a flock.
A few gunmen short of a posse.
Ten cents short of a dollar.

My favorite from the site...

A star for "meagre cognitive load budget"

I'm quite likely to use that one in anger in the next couple of hours....

A beansprout short of a pancake roll.

My sis is a psychiatrist, and she says 'one inhibitory neuron too many...'

A DIM statement short of a function.

A few ants short of a picnic.

Solum potestis prohibere ignes silvarum.

I learned about cognitive loads and budgets to handle them in my study of user interface design... I immediately saw the potential for subtle insults, the kind where the person doesn't know or can't figure out if he has been insulted or not.

You know, I've always been amazed at how thrifty you are with your cognitive load budget...

Maybe he would win some other thread about puns, but in this thread only statements about a person's intellectual capacity are allowed to win. :p
