_Derived Directory and Theme??

Does anyone know what the _Derived directory is and how it is created? I have a site where I applied a theme but the images on the site are not coming up when I hover over etc. I looked at the path and it points to a _Derived directory. I can't see that directory in Front Page but I can see it if I FTP to the site. Please Help...:)

first make sure you have front page server extensions installed on your server, and as long as you upload by pressing 'publish' in frontpage you should be fine -Greg :-Q
