9iAS & Basic authentication

First off, I'm not an Oracle bod, but wondering if my problem is Oracle related ...

Are there any known problems with getting Apache's basic authentication (defined in httpd.conf) to work correctly under 9iAS?

I have everything defined as it should be (as I've done on other non-9iAS installations) but I am just not getting the username/password prompt in my browser!

Any ideas much appreciated.
