Hi, Our customer have a STK9310 with STK9840-/9940b drives... One of the 9940 drives started to give him the following error in ACSLS when he starts a job in NBU. The error is: "Unkown_LH_TYPE (68612) No format for LH_ADDR_TYPE (68612):Library Error, Cancel Pending" We tried several 9940 drives and had the same error... the drive also goes down and then in a AVR state. It's a Solaris server with NBU5.1... We also reconfigured NBU... all in vain... The drives were all tested with other server/s and worked. Did any body experience the same error or please share some knowledge on the error message. This drive is the only drive direct attached to the server. Your help will be appreciated.

When a job is started in NBU thr tape mounts on the drive and dismounts when th drive goes in AVR...

TechyG,

I see the first post for this was 11th Dec so I suppose it's fixed by now, so do you know what the fix was?

We have had similar problems in the past, all fixed by bouncing ACSLS. It seems that an initial drive problem causes ACSLS/OracleDB to get into a state that no anmmount of s/w commands or drive replacements can fix, and the Sun box has to be bounced.

HI STKman,

Thank you replying - the problem have not been fixed yet... we are waiting on change control approval to reboot the server & ACSLS... I will ask them to boot the ACSLS server first to see if that will fix the problem, otherwise both... will update when fixed. Thank you!

Sorry for the late update.

Before we rebooted ACSLS and we did a config drives (panel) the hand status did not show in ACSLS events... it only displayed after we did the reboot of ACSLS... we also had a faulty tty cable because we lost drives 10-18 after the reboot. we fixed the cable... after the config drive hand 1 was InOp. removed the cartridge from hand 1... we started a test job in NBU-had the same error. when we look into NBU-the cartridge NBU wanted to use was the cartridge stuck in the hand... we changed that and there we go... successful backup...
