I have a Abit KT7A, drives configured as Raid 0. I partition them into C: and D: which is fine.

I want to add a 3rd non raid disk on the other IDE bus and have this as a E: for temporary files. Yet when I install it this drive insists on being D: and changes the Raid drives to C: and E:

I also have a non raid PC with one disk partitioned as C: and D: and a second temporary files disk which is correct as E: Why cant I get the KT7A PC to recognise the Raid as C:, D: and the other disk as E:?

Fdisk the drive as a logical (extended) drive, not primary, and make sure it's not "active", and it should take the next letter. Cheers,
Jim

Cant fdisk as a logical extended because it says

cannot create extended dos partition without primary dos partition on disk 1

Fdisk insists in calling the 3rd disk as disk 1, when I plug it in.
