I am receiving this error message when either a 98 or ME dial-in client tries to make a connecting.
‘The following error occurred in the Point to Point Protocol module on port: COM10, UserName: \fred. The authentication server did not respond to authentication requests in a timely fashion.’
Windows 2000 and XP clients have no trouble dialling in. The event log shows them as UserName:IECNC\fred.
I feel sure that I have seen something on Tek-Tips about this and I have searched but have come up with nothing.
Can anyone offer assistance?
Many thanks in advanced.

maybe try setting the clients a WINS server address manually.
the 2k and XP clients will be using DNS MCSE NT&2K,CCNA/CCDA,CNA,ASE,NSP
