9730 VOL. ID Problem

I supplied a customer with a 2nd 9730 for a windows 2000 server. Customer says the new unit drops the first character of the volume ID when it reports the ID to the system. Anyone have any idea what might cause this?

Badly printed labels or labels of the wrong type or upside down labels........STK libraries only recognise 3 different label types, for DLT, its best to use only one as the media bit mujst also be included.
