IS-IT--Management
Greetings,
We 'inherited' a 9710 when our company merged with (bought) another company. The 9710 unit has 10 dlt7000's with 596 slots. There is a controller connector along with 10 drive connectors on the back. We have this unit attached to a 2944uw on a win2k3 server w/ Veritas 9.1. The host adapter when hooked to the controller connector sees the STK at ID0 Lun0 and passes this info up to the application level. However the adapter does not list any drives. Veritas shows the controller and lists 10 disabled 'unknown drives' under the Library. The controller does pass the tape barcode labels up to Veritas which lists them in the slots. Enabling Multi-Lun on the adapter made no difference.
What are we missing here? Termination? The controller connector is actively terminated on with a SCSI Diff terminator on the logic box in front. Re-Cabling? Wrong SCSI type? Are we attempting to channel Homer Simpson? Or all of the above?
Our Adic HVD SCSI libraries only need the adapter to be plugged into the controller connector and always show the drives so we are a bit baffled at the moment with this seemingly simple problem.
Anyways, while we sort out all of the support contract issues, we're flying in the dark and would appreciate any sage advice from learned souls.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
