I've never had this complaint before, but I have a user who doesn't like that he can't hear his own voice in the earpiece of the handset while he's talking. I wouldn't have noticed this in a million years, but he's correct as to the operation. We're transitioning from Nortel CS1K (39XX) phones to Avaya 96XX phones, and sure enough, on the Nortel phones you get your own voice in your ear on the handset, but on the Avaya phones you don't.

I don't even know what to call this: full-duplex handset? I don't see a feature on the station form, what about a system-wide feature? Any thoughts?

This feedback is referred to as sidetone. Look in the admin guide for AUDIOSTHS and AUDIOSTHD.

Thanks gwebster. I changed the AUDIOSTHS value to 9 in the 46xxsettings file for the phone type in question, rebooted a couple phones, but no change. That’s my life though, nothing ever works right. Probably something simple I’m not doing. I punted to my business partner.
