Wanted to know is there a way to change a single phone http address remotely(from my PC). I know I can go to the phone and craft into the settings but how can I do it if the phone reside at a different location?

If you are using ADS, it has the ability to remotely control a phone which means that you should be able to remotely navigate the admin menu to change this parameter.

where is the parameter defined? DHCP 242? It can also be set via LLDP if you've got Avaya switches - though that setting is switch-wide and not per port.

Quick'n'dirty is change 242 to the HTTPSRVR you want, reboot just that phone to get it, and change the DHCP scope back.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Can it be accommodated with the 1 settings file you have?

So, you can have groups in your settings file with different parameters in them. You can set H323 phones groups in CM and SIP phones have to be set manually. Say, group 1=cubicles and 2=closed offices you can enable/disable speakerphone accordingly.

You can do things like if mac address = X then go to... to have unique device settings for a phone at the guard station or something.

If you want to test different firmware - and try in a lab to be sure - but I'm pretty sure the group ID is retained through reboot and can be used as a variable in the 96x1H or 96x1Supgrade.txt. So, if you have all the files from from 2 .zip firmware loads on your fileserver (but only 1 46xxsettings and 1 96x1HUpgrade.txt) and that upgrade.txt starts with "if group = 2, go to get the bins and tars of the new firmware i'm testing" followed by "or else grab the bins and tars that all my other phones are using" then you can probably have a upgrade.txt define different loads for different sets too.
