in the 46xx settings file the following line...

SET LOGOS FIFAWorldCup=../fifa_logo.jpg

1 I uncommented the line by taking out the ##
2 I put a "fifa.jpg" pic from a world cup event in 2004 when we beat mexico's butt in final round action - in the same directory as the settings file
3 I sized the pic 300 x 200 to make sure it was under the specified file size (as suggested in the docs)- its a 9650 phone im using...
4 I tried 200 x 300 in case I got the width/height order incorrect
5 I only changed the "fifa_logo.jpg" in the example to my file name "fifa.jpg" with everything else correct - that didn't work so I tried varying combination without the ../ etc etc...

can someone send me an example of how they have the line configured and working, and where they put their jpg file - I know I'm doing something simple stupid and its not working - ( set the screen saver parameter to 1 minute, but all I get after that time is the default avaya screen saver)

thanks and kind regards...

Are you H.323 or SIP?
Think you have to use SIP for the SET LOGOS to work.

getting the correct size for the logo is a pain in the back side!

You don't have to use sip.

I would try to reduce your jpeg in half and when you find a size that works and increase it a little at a time until you get the correct size.

Grab the Avaya one-X Deskphone USB companion tools.

It has a utility that will correctly size an image for the phones. It's supposed to be for importing pictures of your kids or something to use as wallpaper on the phone, but it works excellently for re-sizing images and logos without having a lot of giant jagged-edges.

Remember that if you have 9620 phones, the image has to be half height, or it won't show on the screen.

Color logos look ok on your computer, but I'd keep the logo black and white. Even for the 9640s with color screens. They don't show up well in gray scale.

My settings look like this. We use h.323.

################ AVAYA SCREEN SAVER SETTINGS ###################
##
## Idle time before the Avaya Screen Saver is activated (minutes).
## Number of minutes without phone activity to wait
## before the screen saver is activated. A value of 0 means
## the screen saver is never activated. The default is 240 minutes.
## This parameter does not apply to 16cc SIP phones.
##
## Note:
## This setting activates the Avaya Screen Saver which is
## different than the "idle screen" accessed by WMLIDLEURI.
## While it is possible to use WMLIDLEURI as an "idle
## screen", it is recommended that the SCREENSAVERON
## timer and the Avaya Screen Saver display be used for
## screen saver purposes.
##
SET SCREENSAVERON 240
##
## The filename of a valid JPEG customized screen saver image.
## 0-32 ASCII characters.
## Note: This parameter is supported on H.323 and R2.2
## release of SIP telephones.
##
SET SCREENSAVER dqlarge.jpg
