Hi all,

The issue I have with 9650 handsets is the actual handset - for call center use they aren't needed and picking up the receiver logs the agent out.

Does anyone know if there's any settings anywhere I've missed to disable the handset without a physical modification? (I think I know the answer though :( )

thanks & regards

I checked the 46xxsettings.txt file, and it doesn't look like there's a setting to disable the handset's operation.

If they're anything like the older handsets, the only thing that hookswitch button does is block an IR LED from a receptor on the other side of a gap with a piece of plastic. The hookswitch isn't really a "switch" (Those would wear out and break far to easily in an office environment.)

If you're feeling adventurous enough, you might open one up and see if a piece of black electrical tape stuck in that gap permanently could solve your problem.

Personally, I think that would be far too much work. I'd just walk around collecting the handset cords so lifting the handset wouldn't do them any good. They'd figure it out soon enough.

Carpe dialem! (Seize the line!)
