Follow the paper trail.
The current GA software is H.323 6.6.2. You can find the ReadMe at It states that 1) the minimum supported release for this software is CM 6.3.6, and 2) the minimum supported software for the 9641GS is H.323 6.6.0.
The ReadMe for H.323 6.6.0 is at It states that the minimum supported release for this software is CM 6.2. The ReadMe for H.323 6.6.1 says the same thing.
So the official Avaya answer would be CM 6.2 using H.323 6.6.0 or H.323 6.6.1 software.
Will it work on CM 5.2.1 using an alias? Probably but don't expect any support from Avaya if you run into issues as that combination is officially not supported/tested by them.
