Hi All.

I have the weirdest problem with a 9641G logging into an IPO. I changed the extension on a user. was 101. changed to 1011. I rebooted the phone and it had me log in with extension and password. It goes to login then gives me another login screen it say

Extension:

Security Pin:

At the top of the phone it says 1011 like it is logged in. What is this security pin thing? That isnt the user password, i know that for sure.

Please help!

make sure the user and extension are associated properly

if you changed the extension to 1011 you need to change the user to match

I did that. All matched up. I just went into telephony and supervisor settings and set the pin code there and entered it on the phone and it worked. That to me is completely random and bizarre. My general experience with avaya phones has been rebooting and changing users on the phones too many times sends the phones a bit crazy. Am i generalizing a little too much when i say that or is that a common experience?

that is how you set up a hotdesk phone

is force login checked ?

No it wasnt checked. To get around it i went into IP - user - Telephony - supervisor Settings i put in a login code and checked force login, then i entered that code into 'security pin' and the phone started working. I hadnt messed with those settings previously, didnt set any sort of code and the phone was working fine until the last reboot when it was asking for this security pin

if people arent using hotdesking i usually put it in the user rights to force login

I think that makes sense. I will make sure that is checked on each user. Its a system in a house so no hot desking

Thanks

If "Forced Login" is unchecked and no Logincode is set then the first time you register a IP Phone the login code is 0000 ( four times zero ).
No need to mess around with Login code's or Forced login, on a new install I always enable "Auto create extension" and "Auto creat user" then ask the customer to put a post it on each phone or desk with the phone number then I can login the user when I place the phone. If the user was not created at forehand it will be while registering the phone.
