9630 Having Trouble Pulling Config Files

Hello everyone.

I have an older Avaya 9630 that I am trying to get to work on my current system which has IPO 8.1 Running. Prior to starting the phone up, I pointed the phone to the IP office as the file server and the call server. The IP address for the IPO is 192.168.1.150, however, every-time I save the address in the phone programming and the phone starts up again it looks for 192.168.1.1 as the file server. As you may expect... I get a "HTTP:1-404" Message.

By looking at the About Avaya OneX on the phone I see "Copyright 2006, S1.5"
And Looking in the 96xxupgrade.txt file in manager I see that the template is for "9630 - Release 3.1 SP5" Copyright 2012

So I am thinking that the firmware on the phone is too old for the new config file on the IPO...
Any tips on how to resolve this would be great!

The phone seems to be able to make calls but cannot access any of the directory services, messages, etc...

Thanks!

Did you tried reseting the phone? As I see it, it is just "forgetting" the IP fnformations you entered in the phone. It is not connecting to the IPO just yet. As soon as it does it will update.

Do you have a chance to set up a DHCP?

ACIS SME | ACSS SME

I have factory defaulted the phone several times using the 27238 craft procedure. It continually "forgets" the file server address and goes to the router as the file server.

Yes, the dhcp is done by the router. It has no problem finding an IP address.

Thanks!

what address did you give for the http server ip address on the system tab?

acss sme acis sme acss cm 5.2.1 acss cm and cmm acss aura messaging.

Oh, it is currently 0.0.0.0

That is interesting, It has been pulling the config for my 9608's. I guess that should be 192.168.1.150 (the call server/file server)?

Thanks!

I tried changing the file server address. The Phone still "forgets" the set IP address.

Perhaps your dhcp is overriding it. What does your 242 string look like?

I'm sorry, what is a 242 string?

I think you are correct it seems to always go to 192.168.1.1 (dhcp). How is this corrected?

Thanks!

You need to put in a 242 string into your DHCP server to tell the phone where to go. I cannot tell you how to make one, I don't know what your DHCP server is, but you can make custom scope options, make one with the id of 242.

Actually, that site looks down right now. I wonder who is running it right now?

Here is a cached version

Thanks Austin. I will do some research on that. My DHCP is done by my Asus N56U router. Yay, time to figure that out.

Thanks!
