Purchased a new 9608. The phone boots up but gets a 404 error when trying to retrieve the s9608_11HALBR6_2_0_13_U452.tar file. The issue is, after the extension number and password are entered the display says "Extension in use" so I press continue to take over the extension. It appears to be setting up but then quickly returns to the "Extension in use" screen. I am not sure if the 404 error when trying to retrieve that .tar file is part of the problem. This happens whether the phone is configured as a vpn phone or simply a ip phone. Another interesting thing is looking at the phone's hardware/software in the settings menu the phones shows a s9608_11HALBR6_2_0_09_U452.tar application file. I have repeatedly tried the clear option and reprogrammed the settings but no luck. Any ideas anyone? Thanks!

You did not create an IP extension in the system.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Two different issues, a "404" means the phone can find the http server and asks for the "s9608_11HALBR6_2_0_13_U452.tar" file but the http server says it cannot find it.
Second issue is either no IP Phone created, as suggested, or the number is already in use for a extension.

I just installed the latest 9.0 Manager. It does not contain the "s9608_11HALBR6_2_0_13_U452.tar" file. It has a 2.1 a 3.0 and 3.1 I believe. I'm not sure why it doesn't try to "pull" the latest file - must be hard coded into the phone or something.

If you had taken a course you would know...
There is a file "96x1Hupgrade.txt" which tells the phone what binary to load.
For the latest 9.0 version it is "S9608_11HALBR6_3_1_16_V452.tar" which should be in the root folder of the file server.
If you don't know your stuff then follow a course, ask your reseller or at least take the time to read the installation manuals, all information is available.

Thank everyone for your responses. Turns out when we upgraded our system to 9.0 we turned off auto create extn. I had forgotten. I copied the newer .txt files to the sd card as well and the phone retrieved the latest files. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to attend the 9.0 class as yet. The boss has it in the works. By the way, if everyone should "know their stuff" I guess there wouldn't be much need for this forum. Thanks again to all!
