I have a 9608 Deskphone setup as a VPN client. The tunnel builds successfully, then the phone displays "Contacting Call Server." After 2 seconds it then displays "Discover 192.168.0.53." That is where it sits for a few minutes then it reboots.

Trying to trace this ... but I can't seem to see the Virtual IP assigned to the phone. Has anyone got the phone working as a client to a Sonicwall?

BTW - 9608 is running latest 6.3 firmware.

RESOLUTION: This problem turned out to be overlapping IP space between the LAN of the IP Office (192.168.0.0/18) & the remote user home network (192.168.1.1/24). By monitoring the Sonicwall's VPN, I could see traffic routing to the Call Server (IP Office 9.0.2), but traffic from Call Server wasn't routing back through the VPN. I also noticed, the IPO was sending out ARP messages for the remote side address, thinking it was local traffic.

To correct this, I added an IP ROUTE in the IPO for the exact remote site address (192.168.1.152/32) with the VPN Router as it's gateway. All is well!

For the record:
The 9608 (running 6.3.1.16) can operate as a stand alone VPN client to a Sonicwall NSA 240 (or I suppose, to any Sonicwall Enhanced OS device). The user is able to plug the phone into any internet without site-to-site tunnels or configuration changes. The phone serves as his VPN end point client.
