A 9608 phone on an IPO R11 keeps freezing. Usually the user unplugs in and plugs it back in, and it comes up again. Yesterday it came up to a login screen and she keeps getting "login error."
- I reset the login code under Telephony/Supervisor settings, several times.
- I deleted and recreated the user
- I deleted and recreated the H323 extension.
- Reserved an IP endpoint license.
- I rebooted the system.
- I created a new user and H323 extension.
- We restored the phone to default and reentered the settings.
- Entered a static IP address
- Changed login code for the 7th time.

Still "login error"

System Status says wrong password.

HELP!!

You need to use the extension password to register the phone, not the user's login code. And by entering the wrong password too often, the IP Office will have been putting the extension into the extension blacklist for 10 minute periods.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

With all the Avaya IP phones you need to be aware of the danger of the different meanings of Log Out. When attached to an IP Office:

- the Features | Phone User | Log Out menu option logs the user out and they can log back in using their login code. Same for the equivalent IP Office programmable button or short code log out controls. The clue should be seeing the NoUser name and NoUser button settings.

- the <meaningless hamburger icon>/A menu/Main menu> | Administration | Log Out option actually unregisters the phone and so needs you to use the extension password to re-register.

Its one of the dangers of allowing users access to the admin menu, as they assume that both Log Out options are the same.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.
