Have a customer who bought several 9608s around a year ago before they were put on sales hold. They upgraded to gig data switches and want to know about making the phones gigabit compatible for the PC passthrough port. I see there is a gig adapter for the 9630/40/50 phones, but nowhere on the Avaya support site or knowledgebase can I find a manual that explains how it really connects, short of needing a wedge stand, which isn't going to work on a 9608. I suspect gigabit/POE in, 100MB to the phone and gig to the PC connection.

The customer isn't concerned with whether the adapter looks nice or not as long as they can get gig to the PC. Anyone ever try this with a 9608 and does it functionally work, even if velcro, duct tape, spit or baling wire is needed to somehow hold the adapter to the phone/stand?

It's probably cheaper to run the extra Cat 5e/6 than forking out for the adapters and it removes a point of failure :)

You need this one i think:

IP PHONE 9600 GIGABIT ETHERNET ADPTR

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

700383771 is the one I was looking at. Most of what I see says 9620, 9630, 9640, 9650. It doesn't specifically mention the 9608, but some sites I search at says any 96XX phone. Then again, they also say the SBM24 works with any 9600 phone, which isn't the case for 9608.

I wish pulling extra cable would be possible, but that would be a bit pricey for 30 or so phones.
