The FSC database is propritary STK so it is difficult to get. However, if you have the list for 9840a 9840b 9940a or 9940b they are basically the same. Not having the list is not as big a setback as you might think, as really, the only callouts are media, ucode (firmware) and hardware. There are no user servicable parts inside, so hardware means change the drive. These drives also have built in diagnostics so you can run read/write and load/unload tests.
You can also narrow down a problem by (1) trying differnet media (2) swapping the drive with another to see if the fault moves with the drive, or (3) upleveling the firmware.
Any DMP (dump) messages at power-up often means the drive is on its last legs. If the service light comes on the drive is busted.
