My 940C HP pinter has been working fine until I got a message that I was out of ink. I replaced the black cartridge. The color cartridge was replaced not long ago. This did not solve the problem and I still get Pen Failure.
I did a techtools test of my G4 Mac; all OK. Did not solve the problem.
I then reinstalled the HP software. As I remember, this did not solve the problem, but the next time I started the computer the Printer worked OK for 4 copies of draft black printing.
When I came back the next day and tried to use the printer, I got "Pen Failure" again. This appears to be a software problem.
Would appreciate any help or comments.
